New Trade Marks Acceleration Programmes – SG Trade Marks Fast

The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) launched the SG TRADE MARKS FAST programme on 20 May 2025 to speed up trade mark processing. This, along with SG Patents Fast, replaces the earlier SG IP FAST pilot which ended on 31 December 2024. The new programmes feature simplified eligibility criteria and were developed based on industry feedback to better support enterprises and innovators.

Applicants are encouraged to take advantage of the SG TRADE MARKS FAST programme launched as it significantly reduces the processing time for trade mark applications by offering the first examination report or publication notice within just 3 to 6 weeks, compared to the usual 4 to 6 months at a nominal sum.

With simplified eligibility criteria and a streamlined process, SG TRADE MARKS FAST is ideal for businesses and innovators seeking faster protection for their brands.

The following are the qualifying criteria and application process:

a. The application is:

(i) a national trade mark application (i.e., filed directly with IPOS via Form TM4 – Application to register a trade mark / not an international application designating Singapore); and

(ii) not for a certification or collective mark; and

b. The acceleration request MUST be made at the point of filing Form TM4 with the payment of the acceleration fee.

For applications with multiple classes, acceleration automatically applies to all classes, with additional cost per class. If speed to market is important, selecting SG TRADE MARKS FAST can give your brand a crucial head start and provide a valuable competitive advantage.
