From 1 September 2013, the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) has commenced a two-year Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) pilot programme with the State Intellectual Property Office of the People’s Republic of China (SIPO). Under this PPH pilot programme, patent applicants who have first filed a patent application in Singapore and who are looking to file a patent application for the same invention in China can take advantage of expedited examination at SIPO. A similar advantage applies also for patent applicants who have first filed patent applications in China to enjoy expedited examination in Singapore.
